That's all made up. Normally they were well educated Captains from they're respective countries IE: Norway, France, England, Spain etc. and were known to be a LOT more cordial the Myths. Even though they robbed others, about 50% of the time they spared everybody and only took what they needed (including personnel). Most were commissioned by their kings and or queens to plunder as a act of war with other European ships. Most were well mannered, knowledgeable in geography, navigation, multiple languages, oral and written communication and knew they're ships inside and out. The crews were more often then not, not as educated but some were European settlers from the southern islands. The two types of pirates were Buccaneers and Privateers, the former mostly crew and the latter being captains, navigators etc. It takes a lot to get a large ship across the ocean to the Caribbean. Hope that helps.

Their accent?
Well let's see... There were some educated Scottish people who knew the seas very well. They abandoned their family and friends and set out to sea because they didn't like their lives back in Europe. They changed their accent and put on funky clothes so if they were ever seen by their families again, their families wouldn't recognize them.
