Someone said thet Goldfish are hard to kill. That is grossly inaccurate. Goldfish have a lifespan of 20-40 years, most fish kept in a tank live about 6. I say we do a pretty good job at killing them.

The number one reason they end up dead is overcrowding or too small of a tank. (I take that back -it's probably bowls. They only last a year or so in a bowl) Goldfish need at least 10 gallons per fish, you can take a stroll around the internet- everyone will tell you the same thing, some might even suggest more room. The reason for this is they produce a lot of waste and they grow very quickly. If you keep them in nything smaller then you will stunt their growth= dead fish.

Your tank should be a twenty gallon. You should buy a filter for a forty gallon- this will keep the water crystal clear. This may seem like overkill now but imagine your fish 9" long in the same tank. Wouldn't be very comfortable.

Your tank right now is going through the Nitrogen cycle also referred to as simply Cycling. This means that you have a sterile environment that is not suitable to maintain life. The fish need bacteria- you have very little. As yor tank grows this bacteria the chemicals in your water are going to fluctuate a lot. The chemicals in the water are what kills fish. You should do 25% water changes every 3-5 days. If you can afford a testing kit then get one.

Proper water changes: You know the bacteria we mentioned- whenever you do a water change you have to preserve that bacteria. You should never remove more than 1/3 of the water. You can rinse plants, but use the same temp water- not hot. For gravel get a siphon or simply stir it up when you are changing the water. This will remove the large debris. If you drink your tap water then you don't have to add chemicals- your fish will be fine (when the water is pushed through the tap O2 nuetralizes the chlorine). They sell water conditioner, it also removes chlorine and adds aloe for their slime coat- it is an option. Do not use spring water- this stuff is missing the metals to help maintain a healthy tank. People who use spring water see a lot more fluctuation in water chemistry.

You only need to feed your fish once a day. If you are feeding flakes then feed them below the surface. This will prevent them from gulping air at the surface. (this behavior leads to swimbladder problems)

After the tank has cycled you can reduce water changes to once a week or two.

Goldfish are cold water. You can not add tropical fish. This includes algae eaters. Your goldies will eat the algae- they need to eat the algae. If you don't have a lot of growth in your tank then you should supplement their diet once or twice a week with shelled peas.

Hope all this helps. enjoy your new babies.

First off- Make SURE that you have a big enough tank for the both of them if they are together, b/c goldfish exert a chemical called nitrate and amonia, if the tank if too small, the nitrate and amonia will build up in the tank, and it will cause the goldfish to get nitrate and amonia burns. It can severly hurt them. Feeding- Just feed the goldfish flakes, only a pinch, once a day. Cleaning- Clean tank when ever needed, you will be able to tell if it needs cleaning. Good Luck!

Don't over feed them. Feed them as much as they can have in 5 minutes. Feed them twice a day. Change the water 30% every three days for at least 1 month. After that you may change the water 30% every week.

Goldfish are almost as hard to kill as river catfish. Just feed them once a day and keep their water clean.

Of course, with a big enough outdoor tank, you don't even need to do that. I have two goldfish controlling the insects in a 300 gallon tank out back that I've never fed. I tell people 'God feeds them'.

properly 14kt on sale that still for 167 seems high priced than its properly worth. i think once you purchase some thing gold, i choose to purchase a 22kt. Its no longer in basic terms organic yet its an asset, i be conscious of my money spent on it only isn't wasted atleast. 24kt you will by no skill discover, as its very gentle. 18kt isn't undesirable the two yet something under 18 kt is only no longer properly worth it. As you stated you rather do no longer care with regard to the cost choose for 22kt. you are able to tell if its 22kt once you notice a stamp pointing out 22kt which each and every and each of the jewelry have, if it doesnt attempt to get a guaranty card from the placement you have offered it from only to determine what you have offered is properly worth on a similar time as.

Look up www.kokosgoldfish.com its an awesome website with alot of people willing to help. No goldfish arent easy to care unless you think they are suppose to live for a few months. The truth is they can live for over a decade and get as big as 6inches for fancies and larger for the common single tailed one. Unfortantly they will never reach this age or size in bowls.
