I hope that the one that is more energy efficient is also more efficient at cooling off my 450 sq ft studio apartment.

I think ceiling fans are more efficient. This comes from experiencing both different scenarios. With ceiling fan and without, just using floor fans.

having a ceiling fan set on a reg med speed,blowing down will help to circulate the air better than a floor fan. just rember that come heater time to switch the direction of the fan

well, simple 5th grade science tells you that all the hot air is closer to the ceiling than the floor, so why blow hot air down from the ceiling? I just use a floor fan
