A un-atended knee injury is turning into arthritis in both knees, the pain is excrutiating & the swelling is uncomfortabe I avoid taking too many anti-inflamatory pain pills. Has anyone out there in a similar situation used accupunture for relief ? what were the results ?

Yes, occasionally I'd injure a knee and then it'd inflame and swell because of arthritis. I got a lot of help from an acupuncturist who insterted needles and also used an herbal pack. I also did self-acupuncture on my knees afterward and it helped me a lot.

Hi, i could say a lot about arthritis having had RA for 35 years but i'm just going to answer your question because i know what the pain feels like. I tried acupuncture once from the best practitioner around and i felt every needle go in from my shoulders to my feet and it was sore and extremely uncomfortable until they were removed. It didn't make any difference to me. My aunt had the same treatment for osteoarthritis and felt her pain lessened a little over the weekend and then it was as bad as before. I haven't actually spoke to anyone who has felt long term benefits from acupuncture but you might have a better result. I wish you all the best in finding something that works for you. If you have any questions i'll be very glad to help. You can email me or post another question if you would rather do it that way.

I have used accupuncture for many things. Chinese medicine is WAY different than western medicine so asking specifically for arthritis in the knee is invalid completely. It would be rather an energy blockage and that's the area in terms of traditional chinese medicine. You definitely need to consult with your local practitioner, they'll give you any info you need, most have free consultations and can explain this to you much better. It helps a lot for any ailment as all illnesses and pain is energy out of balance.
