1/2 bucket of warm water & vinegar & detergent and a sponge will clean it in a flash, I have a Persian Cat and her long hair somehow gets on the blades, so I have to clean them at least every 6 months or so...the above solution will clean just 'bout everything in the house cheap and effective and non toxic (except glass/mirrors/ just use plain vinegar)
I use the kind we put on food...cheers..(just a dash of detergent- the vinegar keeps down the suds)

Get an old pair of socks and dip them in water. Put one on like a glove and simply wipe the dust away. The dust will stick to the sock because it is damp.

I don't know about anyone else but i haven't figured that one out either. unless you use your vacume to suck it off and then still some will go all over the floor and room.. Ihave tried alot of things. usually take vinegar and water and climb up there and try to wash it off with that.. but still get the mess.
good luck.. someone may have a better answer..

three ways, you can either use a ladder and a wet rag and wipe the dust off, take the blades off and wash them in your sink, or use your attachment on your vaccum to suck up the dust.

Use a vacuum extension and vacuum it off. Then you can clean the blades with a soft rag.

Use the little round teeny brush that comes with your vacuum. Put the extender hose on it and stand on a little ladder and all the dust just sucks into the vacuum and does not fall onto your lovely white couch...oh, wait...that's MY couch! (it really works, trust me...)

use something wet, a rag, and start by going around the edge of blade first ... if it is real dusty, use a fresh rag to finish off the center
