I am aware of the strategic alliance and the US eye on the middle east oil. Afterall, Israel would be the perfect partner. But that doesn't really answer it. I think Israel has control over the US government. Why and how?

All Israelis are granted dual citizenship with the U.S. More Jews live in America, then any other country. They are not spread out, but concentrated in New York and Florida, and a sizable community in California. The concentration is high enough, and the Jews are politically active enough, to represent a significant voting block in these states. These states are important to national elections, remember the 2000 election? Ignoring such a community in national politics would not bode well for other representatives who wish for national elections.

The next voting block, is the Christian Fundamentalists. To them, a modern guaranteed access to holy sites is paramount to movement and growth. The thinking is, we take care of Israel, and remove those Muslims, we can please god. Kind of like a refined version of the crusades. The Christian Fundamentalists represent significant portions of Southern and Midwest states, as well as funnel money to elections.

With these two groups representing diverse elements of the U.S. political structure, both Democrats and Republicans establish foreign policy to favor Israel. In return, they get votes.

For American Muslims to gain more political clout, they would have to:
1. Denounce terrorism fervently (lots of flags, a parade, maybe a folk song).
2. have at least 50% voter turnout in each and every election.
3. increase penetration of Muslim-American media outlets, like Bridges, and Al-Jazera
4. run candidates on platforms agreeable to local areas.

Israel does not control the US, they are an important democratic ally in a part of the world that is controlled by terrorist. And to say the US is anyones friend for oil is just stupid. You probably still think that is why we are in Iraq. Stop reading the knee jerk reactions of the liberal press and start looking at the bigger picture. There are people out there, mostly from the middle east, who want to kill Americans almost as much as they want to kill Israelies. Wake up and smell the hate, there is no bargining with these terrorist, they do not want any kind of compromise. Supporting democracy in that region of the world may help curb the recruitment of new terrorist so your children won't have to fight extremist on American soil.

Your suspicion that Israel some how has clandestine control over this country has no grounds. Ultimately the reason why Israel and the US have such close ties is because it is one of the very few nations in that region that subscribes to democratic principles, while the other nations are autocratic monarchies or despotic theocracies.

Abnormal? Huh?

Let's just break it down.....The USA hates terrorists. Israel is surrounded by terrorists. The US supports Israel because they are the only sensible people in that region.

Israel has no control over the US dummy, we support them because they're surrounded by terrorists and they're a democratic nation and have had the West's support since becoming an official country.

Where's your head?

Easy....The U.S is protecting Israel... America wants to stay friends with Israel... and why?? Cause Israel makes the weapon's of the American army... No friends, No weapons....No weapons... pretty F**KT....
So they have to be friends and America has to stand behind Israel... On the other hand... Israel needs A power full country standing behind them and money is also welcome I guess...

YES it is odd for two Democracies to help one another. Especially when one is being attacked and is surrounded by blood thirsty terrorists.

Antisemitic question anyone?

Jews have one advantage that many others don't. They have mothers that nag them (and use guilt) to get them to do their homework.

This allows them to get into college in greater percentages than many other groups. This allows them to get into positions of influence.
