Actually it was fine till this afternoon but now when I turn on my TV,I m able to hear the sound but not able to watch the TV.It is just so dark as when the TV is off.Actually what is wrong with my TV?

First, check to make sure the video cable didn't come loose. If you are using the color coded analog audio/video cables, the video should be the yellow one. If you are using a standard coaxial cable like that comes in from the cable connection in the wall, make sure it is pushed on or screwed on securely.
Second, make sure you don't have your DVD or VHS player turned on. Depending on your setup, they can restrict video to all but the one channel they are set for.
Third, adjust your brightness and contrast settings.
If all of that fails, it is probably time to get a new TV.

sounds like the picture tube blew. These are fixable but it usually is not worth the money to do so.

You have a blown picture tube. It can be repaired, but it is cheaper to buy a new one.
