You do not need a copyright but what you need is a trademark.
Copyrights secure an artist's work while trademarks secure a name or visual logo.
Go to the u.s. trademark office and secure your logo. http://www.uspto.gov/

Most companies I assume use independent marketing firms for there ads and marketing. I would suggest talking to an independent marketing firm. They might buy your logo or idea.

That would not be a copyright but a trademark.

To register a trademark, contact either your Secretary of State for a State trademark or the US Patent & Trademark Office for a Federal trademark.

If you are only conducting business in one state, then a State trademark is most appropriate. If you conduct business in at least 2 states OR between the US & any other country, you can file for a Federal trademark.

Prior to investing your time, money & effort into a name OR a logo, it is strongly advised that comprehensive research be conducted to ensure that what you're interested in is truly available.

This entails searching the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files (for the name) and the pending & registered Federal trademark files (for the logo). Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

A logo needs to be registered NOT copyrighed. Your documents that contain the logo have a tiny "r" with a circle around it, not the c for copyright. Make sure you have documentation when you first started to use the logo. One way would be to send yourself a letter, do not open it, with a postmark on it.

You mean TRADEMARK. Copyright is applied to written works. Trademark is for logos.

If you want to do a QUICK CLAIM, Then send the artwork of your Company Logo to yourself via the US mail (if in US). You must send it REGISTERED so all seals would be stamped, and when you receive it, DO NOT OPEN IT. (Just mark it on the back what it is and FILE IT)

As for registering TRADEMARKS please read:
http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/tac/doc/basic/

Hope this helps.

P.S. In the meantime, feel free to use the © for your written works and ™ for your logo.

Buy a copyright. It's not that expensive. There is no other way.

Why do it cheap?

Is cheap how you run your business?

Quit being such a tightass and do things the right way.

I would call the SBA and ask them.

Put a little c with a circle around it next to it.

Sounds pretty cheap to me.
