Can it tell us anything about our personalities?
Can it help us understand ourselves psychologically?

If astrology cannot be used to aide psychology, than why did C.G. Jung, one of the greatest psychiatrists, say that natal charts and horoscopes helped him understand his patients in ways he would not have been able to on his own?

People who believe in it say that the forces of other planets gravity's on the earth when your born have effects on who you are. The moon's gravity has a much greater effect on the earth, as shown by tides of the ocean, but is it enough to effect a human? Science says no.. Miss Cleo says yes. Decide for yourself.

Astrology is not psychology. It is also not a legitimate empirical science. All astrological readings in the newspaper or on the internet are vague enough that we will all see ourselves in them if we want to. The idea that the changing gravitational forces of heavenly bodies as they move through the sky has a significant effect on our lives is rather preposterous. Since gravitational force decreases as the square of distance, don't you think that the gravitational pull of the guy sitting next to us on the train would outweigh (no pun intended) the effects of large heavenly bodies millions or billions of miles away?

We humans have a tendency to overestimate events that seem especially significant to us. This is an important aspect of our willingness to believe astrology, psychics, and other predictions of the future. We remember the times that the predictions are correct and we either forget or rationalize the times that they are not.

Astrology can definitely help us to understand ourselves psychologically in that it is an indicator of what we are willing to believe under the right circumstances, even in the absence of objective supporting evidence, intersubjective confirmation, or statistically significant predictive power.

Right. And what does that tell you about the field of psychology (especially social psychology) and psychiatry? More often than not i's a guessing game. At least Astrology doesn't (or shouldn't) claim to be scientific. You go for a reading, buy a bit of hope, and that's that.

Anything that has to do with the metaphysical is possible. Because it is possible, we tend to add some credence to it.

Just think of someone you know is a particular sign, say Leo. AND then you go read a book that stipulates what Leo's are like. More than likely there are some traits in the book about the persons.

It is weird, but it is true.

How it works? If I knew that I would have my own 1-900 psychic line.

Astrology is the biggest form of fraudulence that modern society entertains as a real profession. It tells us nothing about a person’s personality or future. Its convincing to people who want to believe it because it relies on generic statements that could apply to anyone.
