The rats are coming in off the field in winter and burrowing under the walls at the back of my house. They are not getting inside but I can hear them in the wall. My cats manage to get some of them but not all.

Other than rat poison I think you can spread lime powder thick along the wall. I think that's what my husband used to keep the field mice away from the house.

Go buy two pet rats to keep in a cage. Do not feed them. eventually they attack each other and you in effect cannibalise the surviving rat. Let that rat free and it will kill all the other Rats for you.

it's lasted 200 years its doing well, if your that worried add another wall but you probably better getting a jack russell or another breed of dog notorious for ratting and let them get on with it

try and put some rat poision around the base of the wall.....if that dont work see what a exterminator would say

Buy Two Ferrets they were used for this years ago before people used ferrets for rabbiting.

Take their spades away from them! Seriously, you can contact your local council (environmental health dept) and they will send someone to sort this out.

put a load of petrol around the back of your house and wait for the dirty shites to turn up and fry the fuckers

Give them sugar and baking soda mixed together. They can't digest baking soda so they bloat and sugar is to lure them.

ugg, poor you, I had one in my loft,it had made a big hole in the wall down stairs, I had the ratman in and he put stuff down in my loft, it was soon dead..............but it died in the wall(well I wont tell you the rest,)but get ratman in, via the council, is cheapest way. just mine your cats
