I'm about 17wks along and have been noticing, not a fluttering but more of little tiny thumping in my tummy. Could that be the baby or is it too early to feel tiny little kicks? 1st pregnancy. Is it also too early to actually feel them from the outside? Or would that be my stomach twitching or something, because it's never done that before??!!! Thanks!

I started feeling my son move on the outside when he was about 17 weeks. My husband could feel him, too. It's the neatest thing in the whole world!! And as far as showing, some people don't ever show very much. I was wearing maternity pants at 3 months. Good luck and congratulations!

i believe that it is your baby moving. everyone describes the feeling a little bit differently. I never felt butterflys for either of my babies always litlle thumpings. iam currently 24 weeks with my second and i havebeen feeling her since i was 15 weeks. i think it has to do with how active your baby is, what position it is is in, and alsohow busy you are as to when you will feel it for the first time. and i dont believe that it is ever too early because babies grow at different rates just like all living things so if one mother tells you well i didnt feel it till i was 20 weeks or whatever, so it cant be your baby, just remember that your pregnancy is different than hers and your baby is different so maybe yours will start to crawl at 6 months and hers not till 10months. got the point. its so exciting isnt it?

I beleve this could be the baby moving in your womb. A baby starts to develope at this stage becomming stronger each week. Soon you will feel the kicks from the outside. Congratulaions and i hope everything is ok.

Yes it could be the baby. Feels like fluttery wings of a butterfly. Enjoy your child. Remember, people are not for hitting. Sorry for the unasked for advice. But, they are God's greatest gift.I've been a mom for 23 years (four sons) and am so blessed. I wish someone had said that to me before I smacked my oldest a few times, and then went to school and got a degree in education. Also, you can't spoil a child by giving him/her what he/she needs.
Have fun, and blessings on you!

it sure is , You wait until you can see the foot or hand clearly poking out , it is the freakiest thing ever.you just have a big round belly then this foot poking out you'll love it. By the end i just wanted him out then when he was i felt so empty although after 18 hours i was taken in for a c section so i didnt feel i completed the whole giving birth thing. i think if i was prepared for a c section it wouldve been easier , so my main advice is be prepared for all situations..my best wishes. xxx

It sure sounds like it's the baby moving. I started feeling fluttering, thumping at 16 weeks and my dr. told me it was baby.

you are about 5 months its probably the baby. at first it would feel a little weird and notto hard but as the baby gets bigger you would really feel it. if the baby pushes hard you can even see the lump actually moving. and thats weird but cool. I know i have four kids. congrats

that does sound like your baby!

I remember the first time I felt my daughter move. it was thanksgiving and we were at my husband's with all the family there. I was talking to one of his uncles and a cousin and all of a sudden it hit me, it was the baby! so of course, I had to just blurt it out in the middle of the conversation. XD luckily, they thought it was cool too. :D
