Is it possible to find a cheap at home MT training course that's just as efficient or should I just try to invest in the expensive courses and learn that way?

I went through Education Direct--I believe they are Penn Foster now--and I really enjoyed taking the transcription course. I do at home medical transcription and make good money at it and if this is something you think sounds good check out these sites too:

Hope this helps you :)

Go to the online Occupational Outlook Handbook provided by the U.S. Department of Labor at http://www.bls.gov/oco/

Type in Medical Transcriptionist in the search area. It will give you valuable information as well as provide you with the following link http://www.aamt.org/

I always look for suggestions from an officially recognized, National Association for that trade, when I am trying to make the decision on suggestions for the best educational options.

Good Luck!

Don't even think of this. MT at home is not a viable opportunity. If you don't believe me, do a little advance "homework" - call various doctors offices in your area to see if they are potential clients.
The fact is, all of them already have transcription services and will not switch to you.
