a penny is .75 in diameter and 0.06 thick
area of penny is pi * r^2 = 3.14159 * (.75/2)^2 = 0.4417 in^2
volume of penny is area * thickness = .4417 * 0.06 = 0.0265 in^3
1 gallon of water = 231 in^3
how many pennies fit in 1 gallon = 231 / .0265 = 8714 pennies
8714 pennies = $87.14
This assumes no air space around pennies. so your actual ammount is less than this.... I'd say somewhere between $80 $85 dollars is in your 1 gallon bottle of pennies.

multiply that by 5 for a 5 gallon bottle.... so $400 to $425.

minus my $10 consulting fee of course.

the way the news is covering that the penny is loosing value, probably not. go through them and pick out wheat pennies and keep them to the side, possibly worth something in the future.

if you have a small scale, take a few and weigh them, then weigh the whole thing, a math problem later you would have an estimate. i was once paid $200.00 in pennies as a joke, and i would say that you have about 100 dollars.

alot. and ill warn ya before you go to pick it up. ive heard of a few occasions when the bottles were picked up they broke from the weight, so be careful. id roll it on its side and pour them out and put em in something else to transport to where ever youre gonna take em. hell of a mess in the car.
