while hip hop, is just cool, n laid back flows.that ppl could dance 2, 4 example break dancers, without hip hop, they would be nothing, they would get no money. hip hop creates music 4 background dancers n such, so that they could get money, and open ways 4 other people 2have a carreer in such things like that

lil_ms... Obviously you have had little exposure to musical genres if you feel Marilyn Manson defines rock. Rock covers a great deal of music spanning over 50 years. Interestingly, a lot of what is now branded ' hip hop' would have been pop. Many people regard the Jackson Five as one of the founders of Hip Hop... were you aware of that? If rock is so bad, why have so many hip hop and rap artists incorporated into their music? Heck, Run DMC even released a very popular song that had them teamed up with Aerosmith... ever heard "Walk this Way" by Run DMC?

That said, I believe both genres have their good points and bad points - its not what's better, its simply a matter of preference. I happen to like both, but its hard to find good hip hop anymore since the lines are getting so blurred.

Rock all the way. Rock requires a lot more talent than hip hop. There are over 150 types of rock and only 15 types of hip hop. Go to allmusic.com, no joke. Plus, concerts are insane and awesome. When your at a concert, your a part of a army, a family, your with people who rocked out to the same tracks as you. And rock has been around longer than hip hop.

I pick both,Hiphop now are making songs that have no meaning in most songs its the same words over and over again,but they have a nice beat easy to dance to its ok.Rock is never going to fade into something that its not rock is mostly about the lyrics,the instruments and how they are used,rockers and rapers are trying to make people see something but have different ways of expresing it.But lately hip hop is taking their reputation for granted.

rock..because hip hop is all the same beat playing over and over again..you don't see that in (good) rock....good rock music is broken down into different parts..the verse, the chorus, the bridge, the solo, and anything else the musician wants to add into the song
