the main keyboard is messing up so i want to bypass it using a auxilliary keyboard.

Most laptops allow easy removal of the keyboard as there is usually RAM or other user accessible items below it.
Ususally there will be some sort of clipping mechanism at the top, or screws on the bottom to release it..
There is a cable going to the motherboard from the keyboard
the cable connects to the motherboard through a clip that usually will release if gently lifted at the outer edges.
Once the clip is released, the cable will easily slip out.
I am assuming you have keys on the keyboard that are stuck, repeating or randomly generating characters, because otherwise, the keyboard should just be left alone, and use the external.

If the laptop has a USB port, plug in a USB keyboard. Otherwise you'll need a docking station.

All you have to do is plug in an external key board. The computer should recognize it. Of course that may depend somewhat on your operating system.
