They use dyes to color shirts, the first chemical dye dicovered was a purple dye by William Perkins and it was discovered in England. Before that plants and insects were crushed to extract natural dyes, this process was expensive and therefore only the extremely wealthy could afford colorful plumage.

They have dye on the market that u can dye your own clothes it is called RIT dye and u can get it at any fabric store in your area.

dye, and you can buy some in stores to do it yourself...hence tie dye shirts.
