Yeah and No, cause they have great prices ,but there customer service sux and they seem not to trust the customers by putting everything behind some sort of locking device where it gets annoying to go ask for them to unlock it just so I can read the features on the back of the product.

Walmart is always being talked about because the labor unions plant the seed in peoples heads. The unions have fought long and hard to convince workers that they will always be abused and taken advantage of if they do not join the unions. Walmart runs a great company which employs lots of people in areas where there aren't alot of employment opportunities. Their employees appreciate the job and the customers have a good source of inexpensive products.
The thing is that they do it without interference from unions. With Walmart as an example that other companies may follow, the very existence of the retail workers unions is threatened so they have set out to convince America that Walmart is evil, when quite the opposite is true. Look to any protests against Walmart or proposed anti-Walmart legislation and you will find that there is a labor union behind it somehow. The unions hope that you are not smart enough to figure this out.
Walmart employs those that may or may not get jobs elsewhere and they sell products that most people can afford. There have been many companies like this, Walmart just does it better than they ever have.
Most importantly, if you asked most Walmart employees if they are glad to be working there, the answer would be yes.

First off, I'm not targeting you in particular... just trying to help educate and be educated at the same time.
Walmart is an excellent company if you believe in capitalism. Target is a great company as well, although it charges a bit more for the exact same thing at Walmart. I think that many people buy into the "image" that Target presents itself, as compared to Walmart.
I am sorry to say that Walmart is just a victim of being a LARGE, mulinational corporation: "people want to knock you down when you're on top." The media doesn't help (does it ever) by picking and choosing the negative aspects of Walmart. If nobody has figured this out, American media plays an important role of defining social norms.. and they do an amazing job at manipulating the minds of young, impressionable, Americans.
It is true that Walmart pays low wages, but once again, how many of these employees have post secondary degrees anyway to command a higher wage than the minimum? (I also don't think that raising the minimum wage would be better in the long run.) Most are low (or no)-skill laborers, and I thank Walmart for employing them... nobody else wants to do these jobs... and most employ highschoolers! If you are 25+ and have been in America all your life, you should think of going back to school or getting a GED. If you want better pay, GET AN EDUMACATION or learn a trade! America still needs and values, plumbers, mechanics, welders, nurses, etc. Although, I can't step into everyone's shoes, so I am sorry if some of these options are open to you... or maybe your schooling was just that underpar with the rest of America.
In an economics point of view, it's helping to save America on cost. Walmart probably had/has an impact on keeping inflation down in America... which is sorta bad since i think it can hide overall (national) deeper, underlying, economic issues. Although, we all know that inflation is comprised of something like 3 parts (1/3 labor, 2/3 raw materials, etc.) Nonetheless, you are still saving money by shopping at Walmart, so you have money left over to buy your crack, maybe pay your utilities/cable bill, etc. I highly doubt you're saving the remaining dollars anyway (if you're one of those people who complain about Walmart being too successful... (haters, haha.) Don't forget that Superwalmarts are one-stop shops... so you get to even save on gas (instead of driving to 5 different stores.)
The only problem is that Walmart does wipe out small grocery stores... but hey, Walmart can't help that their business model is so effective. This could potentially be a problem down the road, but I don't see any macro-economically, positive outcomes of having small grocery stores, with ridiculous pricing, around... except for convience in "innercities."
