Internet Addiction is a very real problem and sorry folks, turning off the screen is not a viable solution any more then "Don't drink Alcohol" works for a drunk.
Here's what I do for parents/business owners that are concerned about Internet Usage. Sit down with your parents or a good friend, get a copy of cyberpatrol and install it on your computer. Have your friend set timeframes that you are allowed on the net (what hours per day, total hours per week), allowed content, etc and then have them lock it with a password that they won't tell you.
What happens is you have effectively limited your access on that computer (And then just avoid going to other computers) in a manner that you can't hack or get around. You're life will suck for a week or two but you'll adapt back to the pressures of sunlight and/or social interaction :).
Good luck
Rob

It's easy to get off of myspace.
Just push the little red button at the top in the right hand corner of your browser window.
Presto! Window closed.
You just need to make yourself get offline.
