That is excellent that you are thinking about such things at such an early age. Keep it up as you move on in life. Nobody here can give you even an educated guess because we don't know enough about you. I would suggest that for a period of 2 weeks write down everything that you spend on food. Eating out, in, ordering pizza, drinking beer, soda from the drink machine, snacks from the vending machines, eating with the Hari Krishna's on campus, everything. During this period, don't try to make any adjustments. If you usually eat out 7 days a week, do just that. At the end of 2 weeks total everything up and divide it by 2. Now keep track of everything for one more week like you did before and total it to see how close you are to the average that you computed in the first 2 weeks. If you are close, you have your number. If you are far off, you'll need to do the 3 week experiment again. On a side note, please try to limit your use of student loans and credit cards while you are in college. I see too many young people who have to become slaves to some job that they hate simply to make payments on their student loans and credit cards. You will not believe how much better your life will be financially if you stay away from loans and credit cards. Good luck to you and again congrats for being proactive about your spending habits.

I usually don't spend more than $100 a month on food. I don't have too much time to cook, but I don't eat out often ... the occasional pizza. Usually I'll make sandwiches and pasta, quick and cheap.

It depends upon how much you plan on spending at fast food places vs. how much you want to cook. Cooking yourself (or with friends) can easily cut your food budget in half, while being much more healthy.

If you do alot of cooking, you may be able to get by with $50 a week. If you eat out alot, you might be closer to $90 a week.
