If you look at the grand scheme of things then its definately Sabbath. Every Metal band for the past 10 years has something to owe to that band.

You see, Led Zep expanded the genre of Hard Rock; Sabbath also expanded the Hard Rock genre but at the same time created many others such as Heavy metal as we know it today and Doom Metal.

Oh and VH1 obviously don't know what they are talking about if they rate Kiss and Nirvana as Metal bands. I love both of them but they really couldn't be called Metal.

Led Zep was the pioneer of rock-fused blues, later of the Heavy Metal sound and even inspired a new amplifier made by Hammond Organ Co. -- they could make a guitar sound like a flute.

Black Sabbath showed mastery of a style.

Led Zep was my all-time fav.
