If you want to improve and learn good cricket, watch a test match.
It gives an insight of the field placement.
We learn the real role of a captain looking at the way he places the field for a particular ball, his choice of batsmen - down placements, the bowler he selects for a particular over.

Now let me take the position of each player on the field.
I as a bowler, like the way a bowler decoys, makes the batsman think of the possibilities of his next ball.
As a keeper, I keep watching every ball where it pitches and how it rises, where are the spots on the pitch that might help a particular bowler.
As a fielder, I learn how the ball should not get pass the inner circle, the value of each catch, inturn the value of each match
As a batsman, i know that in an over the bowler has 6 chances
and as the batsman I have enough of balls to face to put myself into position, gain confidence.

Cricket is a game played inbetween the ears.... the brain
Every minute out there is a E=MC2

As an audience, I love to learn to view a ball in every player's perspective.

Wow what a beautiful question.

I like to answer these type of questions.

Yes many thing can be learned from watching a test match. I observe the tactfullness that the batsman displays when the bowler tries to take the wicket for every ball. They are the absolute test for a batsmen and they help the batsmen to develop mentally as well as physically.

you can also think of the views that the captains do such follow-on, batting order etc.

The only dis advantage it has is the time dependance. Other wise it is a good game.

Hope you understood this.

One of the best moment in Test cricket is Dravid facing Akhtar. See Akhar runs more than 100 feet, and Dravid will always will played the ball so it goes like this.

Ball one- 100+ feet running - placement
Ball two- 100+ feet running - placement
Ball three- 100+ feet running - placement
Ball four- 100+ feet running - placement
Ball five- 100+ feet running - placement
Ball six- 100+ feet running - placement

After the over Akhtar would be like "Oh man I cant stand that man i dont get wicket and he doesnt get any runs"
