Since sales jobs are commission based, I think he was asking how much do you think you could sell and how much you would be earning based on that.

the interviewer is asking how much value can you add to the company. how do your experiences and skills make you the ideal candidate for the position.

Say something like "A lot more than I've ever been offered, that's for sure. Can you be more specific?"

The question is meant to intimidate..or see if you intimidate...typically they expect you talk about what you can bring to the company in the form of contacts.
