Right then Chory, lets do the arithmatic: on the plus side (for you) you may have the satisfaction of the punch. That is all. It may have given you pleasure but who knows. However, on the minus side you have: The officer (leaving aside his gun) has some form of baton which he is entitled to use to prevent you from hitting him further. He is entitled to use 'reasonable' force to arrest you for assaulting him. So, you get a few good smacks from the baton. You now have to spend overnight in a cell being 'looked after' by his fellow officers. Any one of them, if he/she feels threatened by you is entitled to defend themself. So, you probably get a few more slaps if you do anything out of line. In the morning, you get breakfast, served by a gaoler, who is probably a police officer, or a retired one. Do you like pee in your coffe, or crap in your food. You will never know (and it is highly unlikely that it has been done) but you take no chances and leave it untouched. You are charged and taken before a court. You are refused bail or plead guilty. Without a shadow of a doubt you will go to prison where you will be cheered by other prisoners but treated badly by the wardens. Again, you do not know if you have pee in your coffee or not or crap in your food (it is again highly unlikely, but you don't know that either) so you do not eat or drink. Again, if you threaten any of the prison staff, they will be entitled to defend themselves before you strike them, so you will probably lose your temper because of lack of food and coffee strike out and end up in the hospital wing. It is not bad there, but most of the trustees are gay and you are likely to have an internal examination from three or four of them while you are sleeping. So, after the first night, you do not sleep. Eventually, you will be released having lost several stone weight, black and blue all over and with a sore bum..

I have only one question to ask you - was the punch worth it........

Not even if they DIDN'T identify themselves in plain clothes.
