They want to annihalate the West. period.And Israel's first in line.
It only took me about a year after 9/11 to grasp this, why do some people think they're freedom fighters? They attacked us HERE, and they want Israel and the U.S. to go down in a blaze of their jihad-y glory.
This is like saying Germany didn't want to conquer the world, they wanted to stop at France or the Soviet Union.

Glad to see you came around, I was firmly in this camp well before 9/11, however 9/11 was a great reinforcement of my beliefs.

I'm not going to disagree with you and I'm going to completely disavvow the guy above me. The problem with the US and Israel is an understanding of when our actions create more terrorists. If, after Israel's actions in Lebanon are over, they don't pay for the reconstruction of many things in Lebanon (after all, they've said abundantly that their war isn't with the government or people of Lebanon - only with Hezbullah) they have created more enemies than they already had.
We HAVE to fight terrorism - there's no denying that. But we have to fight it not just with force. We have to support and encourage secular education throughout the Islamic world. We have to support secular governments. We have to support free economies (or hell, even socialist ones that will bring the standard of living up).

Yes, that's why they're called terrorists, not liberators. They are young men (usually - though often incited, ,by their elders!) full of rage and lying to themselves and the rest of the world about their reasons for causing death and destruction!! They hate themselves most of all.
