Play it for a while, and try to separate it now and again. The pieces won't warm up and expand at the same rate, the goo will get loosened up, and with a little wiggling it will come apart more easily.

Oh, and no more gummy bears just before band practice. ;-)

Hold it in a way as not to bend the keys and twist the parts back and forth a little bit to wiggle them free. I wouldn't use any oil except maybe key oil, which is fine enough. Your corks can get ruined pretty easily. If you work it long enough, it'll come apart.

Also, I guess that if you got it cold (put it in the fridge or something) that this would be easier as the right areas might shrink.

You don't want to damage the cork.
Try warming the instrument gently. This might get the cork treatment flowing.

If that doesn't work, then as suggested, olive oil (which is water soluble.

When you finally get the instrument apart, clean it and rewax the cork liberally.

P.S. Also, never drink sweets or eat anything at least ONE HALF HOUR before playing. The instrument can get gunky or calcimate.

The parts could be warped because of drastic temperature changes or exposure to moisture. You can try putting it in a warm area (not hot) for a day or so to see if it comes apart normally. Oil will work also but not if it's too warped on the inside.

olive oil. don't use petroleum based products. use a small amount and be patient, let it soak in. If that doesn't work take about 3 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter in your mouth and practice some scales for 20 minutes. It won't help, but it sure would look funny!

Grease up an M-80, light it, and drop it down the tube.

Works every time!
