I was 18 weeks along when my docs were able to determine the sex of my baby. I have heard between 16-20 weeks is pretty average.

if you are given an ultrasound at 20 weeks they may be able to tell then.
however, sometimes the hospital has a policy of not telling the parents what the sex of the baby is, so you would need to check this out beforehand. if you go for a scan, you also need to ask them to tell you - or they will assume that you do not want to know.
at the scan they can't always tell you what the sex of the baby is as the baby could be lying in an awkward postition. it's also worth bearing in mind that sometimes they get it wrong - this is why some hospitals have a policy of not telling you. if you can't find out and you want to - there is the possibilty of paying to have another scan done through a private clinic - all the parents i know that have had this done have said that it is very expensive but that it was also worth every penny
as for a bit about mine - i did not find out with my first - a little girl. it was a lovely surprize when she was born.
i did find out with my second but i did not want to -the child father did and then he told eveyone in the pub on a night out and so was not the most joyous of occasions.
i am now 6 months pregnant and i know that this is another little boy. it was much more practical this time as the other children were fighting and now they are able to go shopping with me and choose things for their new baby brother.
some people have told me to my face that it was wrong for me to find out - but as i said - i still have no idea what he looks like and we are just as excited. it is a matter of personal choice.
totally got off the subject here but by 20 weeks the baby has matured enough for you to be able to find out
good luck

I have two children and both times, I was given an ultrasound at 4 months and thats when I found out. Remember that the doctors make mistakes too though. A friend of mine was told by her doctor that she was having a boy, but ended up having a girl. She was happy but she ended up having to exchange alot of clothes.
A sure fire way to find out is getting the (my spelling is horrible)--amneosenthesis. It will also determine if there are any birth defects/down syndrome etc.
Which ever your baby is - girl or boy, I wish you luck and congratulations!!

around 15-20 weeks the baby is not too big and has the room to "show off" for the ultrasound. I found out with mine at 16 weeks and 19 weeks...Good luck

18-20 weeks is the best time (easiest to see in the ultrasound). But you don't want to wait too long because as the baby runs out of room, it is sometimes impossible to get it to move the right way to see the gender.

@ 18 weeks you can USUALLY tell. But not before that. And @ 18 weeks, you can only tell if the baby is in a position to tell. Legs spread. AND...you could be 9 months pregnant and not know for sure if that baby has NEVER opened his/her legs for you.

hiya can do a vaginal ultrasound and %. the fetus up on that at 6 weeks. 8 weeks they are able to make certain it in a frequently used ultrasound. in case you do have a tubal being pregnant you isn't waiting to be pregnant - it is going to could be aborted and you may loose your tube. solid success!
