Because they are too uptight, materialistic and have no sense of how to manage their priorities. My husband and I take 3 two-week trips per year.

Hello,
I do not know why people(Americans)take such short vacations.It could be that they do not get enough time off from their work.Maybe people in other countries,get more time away from their work than the americans do.However i am an american.And when i hop to another country.If i am really enjoying myself.I'll stay as long as i feel like.Because i would want to see and do everything that would make me feel as though i had a great time in whichever country i may be visiting..:)

Most American companies only give 2 weeks vacation... some give 3 or more to management... but 2 weeks is standard. Americans haven't learned to live like the rest of the world... they think they can go to Paris in August and get service... he,he,he.

Also, Most Americans only get a 2 week vacation. Depends on how long a person has been empoyed by that company though.

we're workaholics. besides a few short vacations gives you something to look forward to and not feel as overworked.

We work too much, do not know how to unwind and think it is "girly" to actually value our leisure time more than working.
