If you can't cook, is it because you were never taught how to cook or you don't have any motivation to cook? Also, were your parents good cooks or bad cooks?

I'm not motivated to cook because the dishes pile up in the sink real fast.

I am just too damn lazy! Plus I really don't think I CAN cook. I burn stuff. PLus I hate doing dishes...I'd rather just eat out to save myself the horror.

My dad is an excellent cook not to mention he managed a restaurant during his late 20's and learned how to cook really well. My mum never cooks she prefers microwaves and boiling stuff. So I got my cooking skills from my dad but still it doesn't make me a good cook coz I'm not that motivated. I'll look for a hubby who will cook for me. LOL I don't like cooking but I like the preparing wherein the ingredients are chopped and mixed etc. :)

I can't cook because I was never really taught and I'm not that motivated -- so there you go, that means I REALLY REALLY can't cook !! Ha - my poor husband and daughter, they have to eat my attempts at cooking !!
My mom was a good cook and I also grew up near my granny who was an awesome cook.

It's because I HATE cooking. It stresses me out. So there is no motivation there at all. My mom tried to teach me to cook, but I hated it so much that she stopped. Now I'm married and cook frozen foods because all I have to do is pop them in the oven. That I can do....
Both of my grandmothers were spectacular cooks. Neither of them liked cooking either, but because they were born in the 1920's, it was expected of them to cook and cook well. I guess it just kind of stuck because they still cook often now and do it well.
