This may be a mass in one or the other inguinal areas or a mass in the testis. Make him see a doctor. If it strangulates and cuts off blood supply to a loop of bowel you have serious trouble.

if he doesnt feel the pain and know its a hernia than he might ot have one, it hurts so bad you know you have it because it is your insides poaking out threw your muscles and you will feel like you need to cram them back in ASAP!
