A soulmate is supposed to be someone that you spend more than one lifetime with and you choose to continue learning together. ex. My daughter and I are soulmates and are generally siblings. A soulmate is usually not a romantic association for a plethora of very good reasons. Also, a soulmate is not a good thing to call a person to excuse being unfaithful in a relationship to have a fling with someone you feel chemically attracted to and you want a pretty word to call it. Unfortunately, that's the modern misuse of the term. :)

Soulmate (or soul mate) is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep affinity, friendship, love, strong intimacy, sexuality, or compatibility.
A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul - thought to be the ultimate soulmate, the one and only other half of one's soul, for which all souls are driven to find and join.
However, not everyone who uses these terms intends them to carry such mystical connotations; they are sometimes used simply as an expression of strong emotional feeling for someone.

my boyfriend is my soul mate, and i am his, we live seperate parts of the world, him in florida and me an aussie, we talk half the day every day and we are going to be together very soon, we have taken half our lives to finally find each other, we like same music, have same hearts, same dreams, we even think same thoughts, can even finnish eachothers sentences...lol...is match made in heaven, and is fate we met, u do know when u meet ur soul mate, dosent happen to every 1 but it does happen.... u just know u will be together forever.... : )
