I'm in the Broadcasting industry. My major is in Broadcasting and Electronic Media. My minor was in English Literature.

My advice is to go to college for whatever your school offers in the media area. Most accredited colleges offer Broadcasting, Journalism, Production, etc... You'll have a lot of choices and you'll need to pick the one that interests you most.

To be in the media industry, you need to be able to write well and speak proper (standard) english. You will NEVER make it if you can't speak well. One class I took was solely to teach us how to speak in front of a camera. With radio, speech is a little more lax, but it's still important to learn.

I originally wanted to be a radio DJ also until I learned that DJs are soon going to be leaving the radio scene. Everything is done by computers now and shows are being brought into local stations by satellite, reducing the need for local DJs. If you still plan to be a DJ, you need to work to get to the national level ro work for Sirius or XM radio. But to work for these, you need local experience. It's a vicious cycle that I decided not to get involved in.

I've now changed my focus to television and management which I think is where I will end up working.Media is an ever-changing area, so you need to be able to keep up with it. You have to work extremely hard just to keep up, even harder to get ahead of the game. My advice to you is to only get into the media industry if you have a true passion for it. It's tough and not very fun at times, but can be very rewarding. Good luck with whatever you choose.

You will never make it. Go back to school and learn the language. Once you get that down, then you might have a chance at a career. No one will hire you currently.

'nuff said?
