The main difference between a lake and a pond is the size. A lake is usually defined as a body of water large enough to have at least one wind-swept beach; ponds usually are not large enough for winds to blow across the water and create waves to wash away the plants that may be trying to take root.

A lake is really big (Lake Michigan for example) and a pond is usually on a farm for fishing and is small.

Well, Lake Ontario is the first link, and the second is your average pond. Enough said.

A pond is bigger than a lake. . When the water hydrant burst, we had a lake in our front garden. The Atlantic Ocean is called The Pond and you wouldn't want that in your front garden.
