I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant and I KNOW my lungs are fighting for space. This heart pounding breathlessness didn't happen with my first pregancy and this happens about 6 times per week. I can be doing absolutely nothing, or standing, or sleeping, or bathing or cooking or like I said NOTHING at all. Suddenly I loose my breath and it is the most miserable thing. My husband (doctor) and my doctor haven't provided a solution. I'm not easily scared, but am I gonna feel like this during delivery (c-section before)? Is there anything you did or do that helped you not feel like you were about to pass out? Please help. Thank you all.

I would often lose my breath when I was pregnant with my son, I found that if I was at home or some place comfortable, if I got on my hands and knees and just let my belly hang then the pressure against my ribs stopped and I could relax enough to get back to breathing right. If I was in public then it was ok just to close my eyes, take deep breaths, and try to relax myself. Some people might become concerned or ask if your ok, but they are just trying to be helpful, that comes out in people when they see a pregnant woman.

This is so me! I've been battling with this problem for the last four weeks (I'm 35 weeks) and it does worry me because if Im not getting enough oxygen neither is my baby. When I said it to my doctor he said it was because my stomache can't expand when I breathe because of the lack of space in there and it's making me breathless. And of course there's nothing you can do about it. I find if I lie on my side it helps alot, but that's not very helpful if you're out and about. I feel your pain!

Your baby will drop towards the end of your pregnancy and suddenly you'll be able to breathe again. Unfortunately, it's a trade off. You'll have to pee every 2 seconds instead.

For now.....
try pelvic rocking
see a massage therapist...especially one who does crainial sacral therapy
see a chiropractor

Those things will help to make you more comfortable and balance your body for labor.

When you go in for the cesection it WILL happen but it is not due to the baby. The meds they give you cause a drop in respiration and a heavy feeling on your chest it only lasts a few minutes and they put oxygen on you. You will be fine..I think It;s from the baby stretching out and pushing on your diaphragm...It happened to me too..

It will pass. I had this when I was pregnant with my daughter. Just try to breathe a little softer. If you take deep breathes you will pass out
