Consider the source. The opinions of others are general statements that reveal something about them and their values, so that their criticisms of others often reflect their displeasure that one of THEIR sensibilities had been offended. If they are a friend and understand you, then perhaps they do have something constructive to say in their criticism. Likewise, they may be someone you care about and it could be beneficial to the relationship to understand the basis of their criticism and find a resolution; otherwise, write it off and just keep moving.

Destructive? Don't you mean constructive?
I'd handle it the same as any criticism. Take it in. Process it. And then move on.

Don't show the person you care. I hate it when people criticize me!!!! I know it really hurts, but you have to just put it in one ear and out the other, don't let it make you feel depressed.
