Assuming that by best you mean faithful to the original book & not just the Best movie that was in some way based on a book, then Sense & Sensibility (1995) was an outstanding adaptation - the cartoon for Watership Down (1978) was also very faithful

Defantely Lord of the Rings. I love that movie. Frolo just seems always worried, and I don't like that. Also, bringing the character Golam to life was very fasinating
