Monkeys do.

The virus mutated and infected humans from the monkey population.

It was most likely from a bite wound, where fluids were exchanged.

Animals dont get AIDS because their cells are non-permissive to the HIVirus. In non-permissive cells, the virus can inject its DNA/RNA into a host cell, but the viral genome cannot interfere with the host cell machinery and cannot degrade the host DNA as is required for viral infection. Instead, the viral genome just integrates into the host genome, causing an abortive infection, which can lead to tumours.
However, human cells are permissive to HIV. The viral genome can infect a cell, make its proteins and copy its own genome several times using the host machinery. The new virions are released that can infect other cells, leading to AIDS.

From what I understand AIDs was transmitted from the non-human primates to humans through an open wound. Since non-human primates are so closely related to humans they (being the chimpanzees, apes, etc.) would be the only other animals that could get AIDs.

The AIDS virus attacks a certain human cell which plays a crucial part in identifying infected cells called the T-cell. The T-cell marks these cells for other cells, which then destroy it before it can infect other cells.

Other species do not have exactly the same cell, but some such as chimpanzees and cats have a similar cell, and can be infected with a similar disease.
