Don't take it to heart or give it much thought unless it was a gift for a special occasion. The guy probably thought he was buying something a woman might like to have for her bathroom instead of a porcelain or wooded seat. In all thinking I'll take care of the a** that takes care of mine (smile).

I replaced the one in our bathroom with a cusioned one once while my wife was visiting her mother for a weekend ( the old one was broken for awhile ) and that was a big mistake!!! My wife is a slightly larger woman so that might have something to do with her response, she absolutly hated it!!! She said the skin on her legs stuck to the vinal. I ended up going bak to the older hard style.

i would say thank u,and dont forget to lift the lid,i think its very thoughtfull.but i hope u also got roses or another gift.but also b thankfull,that he did think about u.theres a lot of husbands out there,who never buy there wives anything.good luck,and use that soft toliet seat,with a big smile on ure face.

i myself don't like the cushion toilet seats, they just feel funny, I would take it off and go buy a different one.
