Not really, but then again, I don't take Y!A very seriously. I suppose if someone goes to a lot of trouble researching an answer and the asker simply lets it go to vote, then yeah, that's kind of inconsiderate. The answerer is left wondering if it was even read. And when it does go to vote, often only the first three or so answers are considered (unless they're awful), while a better answer near the bottom is overlooked. If a best answer was chosen by the asker, at least the person knows their answer was read and considered. And, of course, it's always fun to read the comments.

Yes. Not choosing a best answer just mucks up the system. Not nearly enough people vote to leave questions to voting and the one's that do don't always choose wisely.

Besides, who wants to wait weeks or months to get a question resolved? I think if people ask the question the least they can do is complete the process and treat the rest of us who answer with some respect by choosing the best.

I also don't see the point of having thousands of repetetive and often inaccurate answer to a single question either. Why not go back to limiting the number of answers or, at least, making it mandatory for the questioner to choose a best answer if there are more than say 20 answers.

Yes.

I think it is selfish and irresponsible.

I think they should lose 10 points for doing so, after a certain number of days, say, maybe, a week.

I also hate it when people ask a question, you make the effort to give them an accurate, useful answer, and as soon as they get the information they need, they delete the question.

I agree with the previous poster about polls and surveys, though. Sometimes it is OK to put those to a vote. That is almost like a continuation of the survey, as one is surveying other users regarding the answers received.

Absolutely....very annoying. If you take the time to answer someone's question, they should take the time to choose a best answer. Because you know that when a question goes to voting, the voters don't actually choose what they think is the best answer. They don't take time to read the page, just enough time to click the little button on any old qnaswer so they can get a quick one point. Not fair!!! Everyone should come back to their questions whether they are dumb or serious and take the time to pick the answer they like best.

Nah I don't hate it, I do not follow all the questions that I answer that closely. It is always a pleasant surprise when someone does follow up and vote me as their best answer. I try to answer questions with something that resembles intelligence. (to include spell checking them). :)
