The first, and I feel the most important, is forget brand and buy cleats that fit your feet properly!!!! Next is comfort. Consider the type of turf you'll be playing on and the type you'll be practicing on. I found that I actually needed two pairs of cleats. Our practice turf is hard soil which, with rain, can be muddy. So, I got a pair of cleats with a lot of padding at the bottom, and removable cleats both short and long, to practice in.

Next, we play on artificial turf, mud was not a problem. But, for speed, I wanted a cleat that gave my foot optimum flexability. I bought the Air Vick Nike fixed cleats. The first time I wore them I put in a personal best 40 yard dash time. COOL!!!!

So, don't ask which are best...ask which are the best for you and the playing conditions you are under! As far as comfort padding, I need extra. Dr. Schoals Sports Gels...thats right man...I'm GELIN' like a felon!!!!

Although I’ve barely had any chance to actually use my “6-Nolan” special edition speed TD’s…

I went ahead and bought the new Vapor Jet TD’s. People seemd to like the ($130) Vapor TD’s… sans some comfort and durabilty issues… and the Jet’s seem like a cross between the original vapor and the speed td. The best of both worlds… we’ll see. They’re billing them as their lightest football cleat, but I think the old Vapor’s were lighter… but the old vapors aren’t being made anymore.

Favorite cleat? Speed TD’s seem to have become the standard… with the gaia version right behind. Most people who don’t wear speed td’s, usually have never tried them… I’ve never heard of anybody wearing speed td’s and then going back to their old soccer cleats… unless they just didn’t fit them well.

Update.. they arrived.

Played a little pick-up tonight. Cleats were… well, as far as traction.. I wasn’t ready for them. I almost fell down a few tiems when planting because they gripped so well. But once I got used to it, they were fine.

As far as comfort… not quite on the level of the normal speed td’s, but my feet felt fine after wearing a brand new pair of cleats for several hours.

Speed D’s are the replaceable (soft/wet conditions) version of the Speed TD.

if anything, people usually call them (TD series) narrow. wide footed people i think go elsewhere.

when it comes to the function required from a cleat (traction and support when sprinting and cutting on grass)… football wide recievers, defensive backs, and tailbacks are probably the closely thing to ultimate .

what cleat do they wear? speed td’s/vapor td’s/speed d’s.

that ends any cleat arguement in my mind.

speed td’s, vapor jet td’s and speed d’s are all available at eastbay.com. I got my new vaopr jets at amazon though, because they were $9 off.

I thought that I heard that one of the Nike football cleats is a little wider than is typical.

If you are talking about American Football, then I have NO IDEA. But for Football = Soccer, you have several types of cleats for several types of pitches. Basically, the softer and better the ground, the longer the cleats you need - for better traction, andto prevent slipping and sliding.

even though i don't play football, i know that my mom takes my little brother to Sports Autority to get some football cleats.if you would like to order them online then click on the site that i just gave you below. or you can try to find the nearest Sports Authority thats by your house.

the best cleats for you to get is either Reebok or Nike. so when you log on to that site, look for the best Reebok or Nike cleats.

GOOD LUCK!
