generally spotting is okay the first cycle. Your body is just figuring out that its pregnant. You can call your doctor BEFORE your appointment, in fact, you can call your doctors office 24 7 and be connected to a nurse or doctor for even the most retarded questions.
Trust me, its their job. Ive called my poor doctor at the weirdest hours to ask her what i can take to poop. You can call to ask about spotting, i promise. You can call right this second, just call the office and someone will answer and connect you. :)

If you are only spotting and there is no pain involved you can wait until the appointment. But if pain, or if the discharge becomes more than just spotting get to the hospital right away.
There are things that are normal and things that are not and it sometimes is hard to tell the difference. With pain, and or more blood, you could be trying to abort so you do not want to take a chance.
One thing you could do is call the doctors office and ask to speak with a nurse. Tell her this and she can give you direction.
Answers you get here have little meaning because we do not know your circumstance.
Check it out just to be safe.

In some cases, it is normal for women to experience some bleeding during the first few months of a pregnancy. This bleeding early in a pregnancy is caused by numerous factors, such as hormonal imbalances, miscarriages, etc. Many times this bleeding is mistaken as a menstrual period, even though it is not an actual period. Shortly after fertilization, the body begins to produce a hormone (hCG) that prevents ovulation from occurring because the woman's body is already sustaining a pregnancy. Since ovulation is suppressed by the hCG hormone, the body does not experience a menstrual period (the shedding of the uterine lining to prepare the uterus for implantation by a fertilized egg during the next cycle of ovulation). A home pregnancy test will usually be able to detect hCG fourteen days after fertilization. Please follow these links for period and pregnancy information.

its very normal with all my kids, i had a period until i was 5 months ago, i never got a break from the period. you also sound very gasy, or constipated. take 1 chewable gas ex, and lay on your side, for about a hour or so. dont eat or drink anything that would cause you to have gas, it will get worse. you'll be ok.
if you dont have gas ex, chew a pepperment gum, or suck on a pepperment.

sounds normal if it is just spotting with no pain. It is good that you have an appointment soon. If it the spotting gets heavy or you have pain get in sooner or go to the er.

It is common BUT you should report any spotting or bleeding to your doctor immediately. They will likely want to see you.
I had spotting throughout my first trimester and each time I was told to get in bed and put a few pillows under my knees to relax.

Yes. When I was pregnant, it was like I still got a light period for about the first three months.

Just asked my wife your question. Even though she is unable to have children herself, she has many friends who have gone through the same experience you just described, and says the answer to your question is yes.
