Why is everyone suckerd into the pop music thing?

With the advent of the web why don't more people listen to other stuff?

It's the basic instinct of the egotistical, bored, mind to desire a bite at hooked bait. It's the ego that yearns for familiarity to feel safe and in control. Pop music is popular because it's hook is baited with all the egotistical and repetitive juicy flavors. MTV has it down to a perfected science.

It's the risky spontaneous, groundbreaking music that will never be popular. Because most people listen to their egos to be told what to like, not their ears (and whole body). Unfortunately a minority of people have the calmness to quiet there judgments (ego), and just listen.

That boring, childlike, unevolved pop music is like being at a carnival that people are caught up in. People love carnivals.

PS-Not all pop music falls into this answer of mine. Norah Jones, for example. She could have stayed with the same recipe of her first album, but her second album is very different. I respect that, and enjoy her second album on it's own. This coming from a huge jazz and Grateful Dead fan.

pop music is about mass producing albums and making money....i listen to independent labels....music that's about the music and not about radio play/money. bands that would rather play in a beer stenched bar in front of a few hundred people and a ten dollar cover than a stadium with ten thousand people and overpriced ticket admission. metal is making it's voice heard once again

I like my rock and metal. well yeah the pop music is good for some, alot of people can relate, and its really alot of filler with no meaning, but it does make good conversation!!

Classical, heavy, R'n'B...
It's called taste.
Always different and some share more some tastes than others so it seems to be around more.

I like rock,pop just gets on my nerves.Some people think pop is just easy to listen to and to relate to and they think rock is only screaming.Some people!

because usually, pop is about sex, drugs, and more bad things. that's the reason why people like it so much. and also kidz nowadays tend to "follow the leader". get the meaning? ;-)
