For gravity to be strong the object need to be close to each other.

For example if you weight 115 on earth if you got on a air plane, you could weight a couple pounds less, 113 or so.

Gravity is rather weak.

it obeys the inverse square law and so is inversely proportional to the square of the height from the earth
