from poor black people way way back in the day when they had to hand down clothes, worn by adults. I heard on some talk show or fashion show. but it came from way back, not from any designer or pop star.It's a part of history.

i read this really good article. wish i could give the link but i forgot the site. anyway it was by a proffesor giving a history lesson on baggy pants. said that it was a way men who were homophobic wanted to get rid of the fitting jeans and pants that were around until the 1980's. says it originated in popular culture such as hip hop.

It started in prisons long ago. But if you ask one why do they wear them they can't answer as they don't know. But I do know. It's all about Monkey See Monkey Do. Therefore we would have to find and ask the Head Monkey why he started wearing baggy clothes.

who ever said poor black ppl is really wrong it started in prison where the pants where so baggy that they just let them sag. it was also a sign in prison u where gay and u would get man-raped

Actually, now that I have thought about it. I remember my next door neighbor growing up wore his pants like that. He was the coolest adult I knew. Maybe they all want to be like him.

My guess would be a homeless person who was wearing the only britches he had...that's a fashion trend I've never understood the appeal of...it looks beyond goofy....like the folks wearing it got hand-me-downs that didn't fit...
