That wont work, all you can do is connect to the net through the computer that is connected to the modem. If you get broadband then you can connect to the net via Ethernet through the modem. I've yet to see a dial up modem with Ethernet capabilities. Dial up is just too slow. Check out the link below. Upgrade! Good luck!

wouldn't an adaptor just be an external modem? After all, it still needs to act like a modem. The ethernet post does not have that capabiliity by itself. I suppose you could get a router with a dialup modem in it, that would let you connect your computer via ethernet. But i'm not entirely sure that's easier, or cheaper for that matter.

You can use any eathernet card. For Dialup over Eathernet, please download RASPPPOE from http://www.raspppoe.com/index.html & Install. For configuration, please follow instruction of same webpage.
