If you got a little giddy after a blood donation, it is probably due to a bit of a drop in blood pressure, and a bit of a drop in blood sugar. The blood sugar part is why they want you to sit quietly for about 30 minutes drinking fruit juice and eating cookies. The blood pressure part will take care of itself as your body quickly replaces the fluid in the bloodstream.

I have given blood as a voluntary donor during many years.
A few times I felt a little light headed afterward, but nothing serious. A cup of strong coffee was all I needed.
Unfortunately, I cannot give blood anymore, because of certain medicines I am taking, but I would encourage everybody to give. It is so needed!

I have given better then 30 pints of blood in my life. I was a nervous wreck the first five times I gave, but, anymore, its no big deal.

Suggest take a good rest this weekend. Come Monday, if you have this giddy, please consult a doctor. Maybe your blood pressure is too low or too high. Take care!
