YES!!!!
The only movies they are making are sequels, historical events, and best-selling books. About only 10% of all movies made are actually good these days. Even the sequels suck!!
Hollywood needs some originality..

Yep there are not enough good writers around to come up with good script ideas. Hollywood can't decided also who to please the people that love the no party brainier films like American Pie or the Religious Right that would go for The Lakehouse because of the no bedroom scenes. If Disney has to revert to their rides at Disneyland to come up with their ideas for movies as in the case in point Pirates of the Caribbean and that Movie about the bears which is take from the ride at Frontier Land. Then you know you are in trouble. Disney and Hollywood would turn to books to get most of their ideas for their movies. Now that no one is writing any good books so Hollywood is running out of ideas. Also the remake of some of the old classic movies that Hollywood make stink too.

Sequels and unnecessary remakes...Hollywood has just given up. I heard that there's going to be a remake of Seven Samurai. Are these people insane? Wouldn't that be like remaking Citizen Kane? It's a cinematic sin, in my opinion, to remake classic films and no one should touch Kurosawa's films. I wonder if we'll start to see remakes of The Godfather, or maybe new sequels...Godfather: Resurrection...Luca Brasi returns from the grave to get revenge with the help of his sidekick, man-eating fishes!

You should read two books:

the writer's journey: Mythic Structures for Writers
Christopher Vogler

The Hero with a Thousand Faces
Josheph Campbell

Read the first if you just want to read a bit about storytelling and how movies stories are structured. Vogler's work for years has been sort of a 'how to' guide in hollywood.

The second is much, much deeper but it is the work that Vogler gets much of his inspiration from.

Is sure seems like it as they keep reguritating the old ones. The good news is that there are more and more independent filmmakers that every now and then come up with a unique, great idea and turn it into a good film; bad news is that the big movie studios shut them out of distribution and unless they catch on via independent video rentals markets, they are never seen by the masses.

Yea...the super hero sequel thing is really popular.. Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Superman, Batman. Plus there are quite a few movies they copied from other countries..like The Ring (Japanese) and The Lake House (Korean).

It happened a long time ago. All that comes out now is remakes of old movies (and not so old ones) as well as sequels.
