If one has sought and understood the purpose of their existence, then the secondary functions of their existence become just that, secondary. In which case they eat to live; are unfussy in regards the quality and quantity of the food, as long as it fulfils their nutritional requirements.
On the other hand, if one has become convinced that the sole purpose of their existence is pleasure, then such a person may seek pleasure in food and thus live to eat. And this having been done, relieves them of life's necessity to eat.

You eat to live. The people that live to eat, well they are the ones that you see on Jerry Springer that have to have the wall of their house removed just to get outside.

Deep question, dude. I don't know, but I'd like to think that there is some sort of an afterlife in which we are reunited with those in our life who were the most important to us.

Our "life" is situated in our brain. Our body needs a body to keep it going, and that body needs food. So, we have to eat to live.
