Try the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course. It's free at participating colleges. I completed mine a while ago, and I enjoyed it. Outside Europe it's called ICDL (International Computer Driving License).

Your local adult community college should be able to help with some of the most basic courses for free.

But even more advanced courses are really reasonably priced.

Plus you get to study in the evenings as little as 1 day a week.

Go to your council's website ad follow links from there.

Well,I think that taking course just a part of that. But,you can go to buy the computer book is much more better than taking course besides you also can ask your friends when you have some problem of computer operational or the other. So,I advice you to study on your own rather than taking the course.

If you are living in the UK. It is free and you do it all online, no need attend college. I am doing the Next Steps in IT course right now and I highly recommend it. Depending on how much time you have to study it should take you on average around 9-10 months to complete. You will have full tutor support throughout the course.Hope that helps.
