"Is it true that French women don't shave?", among many others, seem to be a common issue on yahooUS... I am French and it really freaks me out to read stuff like that. Please stop both stereotypes and vain attempts of explanation ("it's a cultural thing in some European countries"). French women do shave and use deodorant, so do most of women IN THE WORLD.
You should travel and learn more... coz the main stereotype about Americans, for French ppl and many others, is that they are stupid and uneducated. Please prove them wrong! if u can...

Most people think Americans are fat, loud and rude.
Most people think that Germans are an*l about time keeping and claiming sun loungers
Most people think British folks all speak with posh accents and have bad teeth
Most people think the Irish are drunks.

Most countries are subject to stupid stereotyping, the French are not alone!

LOL your stereotypical American is indeed uneducated, in world affairs. We are too comfortable in our own little safe world (America). We don't try very hard to learn about other cultures.

I have traveled to Europe and Asia, and the Mid East.
I got out of my country so I could learn more. Its really exiting to see so many cultures and to learn their opinion of you.

Your opinion is not the first time I have heard this. America has many different types of people in it. Just like other countries. But all Americans, are not stereotypical.

I have an interesting story for you if you will take the time to read it...

I was in Germany chatting with people at the bars. Every time I talked to a woman and she asked me where I was from, I told her. Texas. That ended the conversation right then! I finally asked a few why they stopped talking to me. They said that they did not like President Bush. I tried to tell them I was not Bush. But they still ignored me. I was found guilty by association. That to me is stereotyping. And I moved on because that is not the kind of woman I want to hang out with.

I think it has something to do with stupidity on most peoples part.
There are women from every culture that do not shave or use deoderant.
I work with a French lady and have for years she is very clean and never smells.
I dont know if she shaves or not as I have never asked her nor dated her. She is just a good friend and one helluva good worker, not to mention she is way older than me lol.
Dont let it bother you if you see that sh*t.
I see things about us Americans on here and I just laugh at most.
Some though I tend to go off on, but I can be rather nasty when I choose to. It depends on just how ignorant or how arrogant the person that offends me is.

sorry to say and speaking from experience, it is a common truth among ignorant young Americans

first remember there is always a grain if truth in any stereotype, no matter how small the grain ( 1 person on a million)

also, attending college there i came across large numbers of ignoramus Americans and found that most just gossiped re: the myth

don't worry 'bout this, 99.999% know the truth

I think it's a myth created by American women because they're intimidated of how attractive french women are, and by American men because they're bitter about being rejected by them. I'm Australian and many people I know believe the french to be the most attractive people in the world.

I prefer women who smell and don't shave..
When i met Gloria, my wife, she stank. She isn't french, but she was eating a baguette.

As for those americans. They are not stupid and uneducated on purpose. They just get a bit hypnotised by their media.

Yes, but the French think EVERYONE is more stupid and uneducated than themselves! :-)

The only way to beat stereotypes is to get to know individuals.
