You really have to be more specific.
In the US, a social conservative (right wing) wants little or no government control over personal freedoms and the social liberal (left wing) wants the government to help every person when there is a need.

Remember that most people fall into the middle and the current US govt. is very left leaning.

There is also fiscal conservative and liberal. Fiscal conservative wants no tax-payer moneys for private use and fiscal liberals want the 'government money' to be used for 'the greater good'.

There are many more categories to look into but this should give you an idea. Also check out the nations political parties (yes there are more than two) Libertarian, Republican, Democrat, Green, and Socialist (that I am aware of)
